Inspiration

I really like this magazine cover, it looks like something i imagine a hip hop magazine to look like and even if it didnt have the title 'Hip Hop', i think you would still be able to know what genre of music it is. i want to base my final piece on something like this.

Here are some other, more professional examples of hip hop magazine covers which i like.

Feedback

When i presented my 25 word pitch to my class i got pretty much the same feedback. I want to use some aspect of cartoons in my magazine and the class liked the idea of this very much but as i thought they said it would be quite difficult to include this. Also they liked the idea of a hip hop magazine and the colour schemes that i chose.

Possible Magazine Names

I thought about alot of names for my magazine, it needs to be something that people remember easily and that sounds good aswell. Many ideas came to my head like rap, smooth, bad and tingz but one that stood out to me was Muze. I think it gives it that Hip-Hop element to it and when people read they'll think 'oh thats hip-hop magazine' without even opening it.

American Gangster Film Clip

I put this clip from my favourite film American Gangster on because Frank just shoots someone on the street, that shows how bad he is, he dont care! But this film works really well and there is some good acting in there. This is probably the best film ive seen and ive seen a fair share of films.

to do list

By the end of the week i want to be up to date on just about everything, to ensure i do this i will be looking at my peers blogs to see what ive missed and looking at my teachers blogs to see what needs to be done.

25 Word Pitch Feedback

When we presented our ideas to the class we gained some valuable ideas about our Magazine. The fist important piece of information we got was that the majority of the class liked the idea of having an element of cartoon in the magazine and we were encouraged by this, and have decided to add some more cartoony details onto the magazine. However we also realised that we need to think about what's going on the contents page and other details like this. With that in mind we decided to have it on a new single being released by the person on the front cover.

Camera Shots

•long shot
the long shot is a shot in which you can see the whole body and the some of the scenery. It is used to show a person in an environment.

•medium shot
Covers half the body from the knee's or waist upwards. It's used to show dialogue scenes or when a character is performin actions.

•close up
shows little background and focus' on the characters facial expression rather than there body. Can be seen as an intimate shot.

•shot reverse shot
Used to show two characters talking to each other, enables you to see the reaction provoked by both characters. This enables you to judge there friendship or relationship.

•high angle shots
a shot from above looking down. used to show the scenery and how the place looks (how big it is, what the environment's like). one popular example of this shot is the opening of eastenders.

•low angle shots
a low angle shot is a shot from below looking upwards. Low angles help give a sense of confusion to a viewer, of powerlessness within the action of a scene. The background of a low angle shot will tend to be just sky or ceiling, the lack of detail about the setting adding to the disorientation of the viewer. The added height of the object may make it inspire fear and insecurity in the viewer, who is psychologically dominated by the figure on the screen.

•tracking shot
The tracking shot is where the camera follows the movement of the character and is sometimes reffered to as an over-shoulder shot.

•pan
A movement which scans a scene horizontally. The camera is placed on a tripod, the camera is turned, often to follow a moving object which is kept in the middle of the frame.

•tilt
A movement which scans a scene vertically. similar to pan.

•continuity
is where the scenes are interconnecting then edited to give one smooth scene.

•montage
Montage is when a series of short shots are edited into a sequence to condense space, time, and information.
